Background Most states have published some form of state curriculum standards. These standards go by different names, but they all are an attempt to guide school districts toward common, discernable curriculum-related goals. This site was developed to support a presentation at the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS ) convention in Atlanta the week of December 7, 1998. The thrust of that presentation was the Evaluation of Web Resources Relative to Standards and Objectives. The states that are part of SACS include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and the Department of Defense Schools (DoDEA). The links found to the left will take you directly to the location of these member states' standards. The only one that did not have an on-line set of state standards was Alabama, but individual school districts will have hard copies of their curriculum standards. For other states, your standards are easily found by going to a
web site run by Charles Hill and the Putnam Valley Schools in New York.
Their logo and a link to their site are found just below. |
