Search Engines and Link Lists

There are literally hundreds of search engines, and there are hundreds that search the search engines. The purpose of this list is to provide a starting point. After a person begins, he/she will be led into all sorts of directions.

Search Engines
Yahooligans - One of the first to cater to students. A very safe site.
Magellan - A good search engine that offers a "Green Light" option. If you click on the "Green Light" you will only get sites that are apparently free of adult content. They also offer thousands of rated sites.
Planet K-12 - A bit slow at times, but this is a nice engine that searches just educational sites.

Linked Lists
Georgia's Quality Core Curriculum - This database of standards has integrated into it links to web sites that raters say will help users meet their standards.
Global School House. This is one of the early web sites to support and cater to educators. Has a registry program for looking for and registering your own interactive projects.
Reviewed Internet Sites - Our work reviewing internet sites was done in the spring of 1998. What you will find is a database of reviewed websites.

Nancy Donohue's Educational Links
Holidays on the Net - Nancy has done a great job of pulling together a large number of web sites that teachers can use to plan and implement timely lessons.
Early Childhood Greets the Web - A great collection of website geared toward the younger years.
Index of all of Nancy's Links - There are links here that will take you to social studies sites, Language Arts sites, math sites: you name it!

Some Nicely Done Educational Sites
The Math Forum - A good place to start if you need lessons or projects dealing with math. (K - Advanced math)
Billy Bear's Home Page - A collection of activities for younger students. There is a section that is specifically for holidays that everyone loves.
Knowledge Adventure - This is a commercial site by the people that do the Jump Start series for younger children. It has a number of good skills activities if your school does not have the software packages.
