Social Studies teachers on the cutting edge of their profession are well aware of the dynamic learning that takes place in high-level simulations. Students become persuasive speakers and writers, critical thinkers, they are analytical of arguments presented to them, many learn to step forward and show leadership at important times. Perhaps most importantly in MUN, students come to be world visionaries with a sense of the global community around them, rather than living confined to a local or even national focus.

World Visionaries
Students will truly amaze you when they feel they are empowered in the classroom. Here at the International School of Panama where I have had most of my MUN experience, I have seen 10th Grade students from arguing vehemently for their proposal to solve the civil war in Rwanda. I have seen British students playing the role of US delegates to the UN and accusing Britain of selling arms to Iraq! The energy that a good Model UN can bring out in students is like nothing I have seen . Deep research is done in preparation. Shy students appear fearless. It is well worth the time to explore this avenue of education!
