A Virtual United Nations

Your class will act as one of the 173 delegation members of the UN. What will this mean? You will propose resolutions to the UN that will be considered in committee, and, if chosen by a vote of other delegations, your resolution could be the focus of an electronic debate stretching across hemispheres and time zones. You will be linked to an electronic bulletin board where your thoughts and positions on the issues facing the UN can be heard. You will simultaneously have access to the arguments of other delegations. EUN will link you to research sights and related servers that will help your students prepare for the dynamic debate that will take place when the world's leaders gather. Leadership opportunities await those students who are capable of projecting their influence through online resolution writing and debate. Your delegation may be chosen to head a particular EUN committee, or even be elected Secretary General! In these cases, you would have a special electronic protocol to override and control the debate that is raging across the oceans. Imagine the empowerment your students will feel guiding the classrooms of the world toward practical solutions to the world's problems.
