I Think?

I Feel?

My History?

The Panama Canal has a long and colorful history. On December 31, at 12:00 midnight, one chapter in this history closes and another opens. As per the Panama Canal Treaty, signed by American President Jimmy Carter and Panama's head of state Omar Torrijos, full control of the canal and all of its assets will be turned over to Panama. This project will look at follow the last year as the turn over progresses. We will be especially interested in what the people, students and adults, are feeling and thinking as this historical moment in history approaches. We will be building a number of databases and plan to keep them on line as an archival history of the event and eventually publish them in a CD-ROM format. Material collected here will be considered "primary resources" material in future years as in these databases will be the thoughts and feelings of Panamanians, and citizens from the United States and around the world.
