Electronic United Nations The Electronic United Nations is an interactive educational simulation geared to the middle and elementary school student. Students role-play the construction of a classroom country complete with a constitution, economy, and judicial system. Then, through the use of this website, the classroom countries connected with other classroom countries to interact on issues of global concern. The effects of this simulation reach far beyond the factual knowledge gained. Students learn about leadership, power, politics, wants and needs, the importance of law and order, and may other hard to teach concepts. Besides the teacher directed learning, a great deal of student constructed learning takes place. Effective teachers will find many ways to use the simulation to help with classroom control and spark learning in different disciplines. This is one unit that just may last the entire school year and will make you one of those teachers your students never forget. While we haven't run this project for the last year, this project can still be run when ever we get 25 or more classes interest in participation. World School - Antarctica In the fall of 1998, we worked with Jerry Christ, Justin Mutrux, the Educational Technology Center at Columbus State Univeristy, Lands`End, Blue Ice, and the Columbus Ledge Enquirer to bring schools an interactive, virtual field trip to Antarctica. Our part in this whole process was thedevelopment of the web site and the interactive databases that supported the project. It is still on line and we plan to place an archived copy of the project here for long term viewing.
